Once, in Cardona-Hine's native Costa Rica, the artist and his wife visited a quetzal sanctuary, where they viewed both the male and female quetzal birds. The male was dazzling in its plumage, the female more demure, but both stood upright among the leaves of the trees they perched in. The bird in this giclee print reminds one of the quetzal without the glorious coloring of the male. Image measures 12 x 10 inches; the edition will run to 150.
