The stance, gesture and facial expression of the female figure as she turns to wave goodbye indicates a woman of great energy and verve. We might assume that she is departing reluctantly, her husband or lover in the distance waiting perhaps somewhat impatiently. This figure, the artist says, was there to be found, the head, upper body, arms, the whole movement of her body within the background paint. She emerges out of the misty colors just as the male figure seems to almost disappear into them. A highly original compostion with an ironic subtext of the relationship between men and women. Measures 25 x 21 inches.
